Legal Advice Guidelines

The Centre will NOT give advice to a client where there is a conflict of interest

We also do not normally provide assistance in the following areas of law:

  • commercial
  • small business
  • taxation
  • conveyancing
  • environmental and planning law
  • immigration
  • personal injury compensation (other than victim’s comp)
  • property settlement
  • preparation of wills

Where the client falls into one of the following categories:

  • landlords in tenancy matters
  • commercial credit providers
  • employers in employment issues
  • males in alleged acts of violence against women (e.g. respondents in Apprehended Violence Orders, defendants charged with assault) - Anti-Discrimination Exemption under section 126A
  • males in family law disputes where there is an AVO in place, or an AVO application has been made, for the protection of the other party
  • family law disputes where the other party is an Aboriginal woman - Anti-Discrimination Exemption under 126A
